An IBAN or International Bank Account Number is your bank account number in a standard, internationally recognized format. Used with your Bank Identifier Code (BIC) they help international payments to be processed automatically.
An IBAN contains:
- 2 digit country code e.g. GB (United Kingdom) or CH (Switzerland)
- A 2 digit numerical check digit.
- An up to 30 character Basic Bank Account Number - which can include the bank name and routing information as well as the individual bank account number.
